Welcome to Spanish at Richmond Hill Primary Academy

Lead by Monica Lawrence

Bienvenidos a español

Intent

At Richmond Hill Primary Academy all our pupils from Year 3 through to Year 6 learn Spanish. Learning Spanish can be beneficial in both personal and professional lifestyle. Learning to speak Spanish at a young age could help a child to succeed throughout his / her life. Developing linguistic skills later on in life or to help with the ever growing society.

Implementation

Here at Richmond Hill we use a variety of strategies to teach Spanish. Games, videos and songs are just some of the ways we instill enthusiasm creating a love for learning Spanish.

See the following link. This webpage explains the benefits of learning Spanish.

The current scheme we are using is La Jolie Ronde which creates the basic framework to ensure the coverage of learning objectives. This is then supplemented with from the Rachael Hawkes website, relevant games to engage the children practically, songs from you tube which help to engage children and embed the vocabulary in a fun and interactive way.

If you want to explore Spanish some more with your child you can access:

Your child could play the following game on the BBC website to help consolidate their vocabulary bank in Spanish.
